Humberto da Mata was born in Brasília in 1987. He studied architecture and urbanism at UnB and after working for some years in this field he moved to São Paulo to work with the Campanas Brothers, who introduced him to design practice.

Since 2012 Humberto has a design studio located in São Paulo. Focused on research with manual techniques the studio works with different materials such as ceramic, paper pulp and hand sewing upholstery.  It produces and develops objects in small scale production or unique pieces, with the help of artisans and small local industries.  

His work has been widely published in international press and shown in different design fairs such as Collectible, SP Arte, Ambiente and Milan Salone del Mobile.
