Ia Kutateladze is a Georgian multidisciplinary Designer and Artist based in Berlin. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, she studied Interior and Product Design in Italy. Since 2016, she lives and works in Berlin. From 2019, has opened her own studio where different mediums of Design and Craft are merged together with experimentation, playfulness and fascination for diverse materials and intuitive creative processes. Her work centers around Interplay between shapes, materials, textures and their unrestricted intimate interaction between each other.
Inspired by the Artist travels through Iceland, the collection strives to reconstruct and re-imagine the memories and images of this Mystical Island with form and material exploration. Using found natural objects, like Lava stones and Pebbles to engrain the Textures, capturing felt sensations into physical surfaces. Using hand-building, carving, engraining and pouring processes with three different materials – Raw Black Clay, Wood and Jesmonite to create the contrast and interplay between diverse Surfaces, Textures and Shapes. Each piece in the collection is one of a kind.
