« Amalgame » refers to the alloy of fusing powdered glass with steel by firing. Each piece constitutes something that is a product of both a clearly formulated vision and a volatile process, in a close fascination for the random aesthetic of nature. This process speaks to me in the same way as painting, letting it flow from total abstraction into the figurative, revealing ocean view or stone landscapes. The enamel material, in its liquid form, contains a certain autonomy, in the way it moves and form by itself, natural shapes appear without a full intention, but you learn how to encourage certain forms and discourage others. The material melts, flows, change color when heat, introducing an element of chance, and then hardens to a smooth, durable vitreous coating.
