Inspired by the Athena sanctuary in Delphi, the series embodies the enduring legacy of Greece’s architectural heritage. Each piece in this collection embraces an unfinished, partially deconstructed aesthetic, carrying the spirit of the final remnants of the ruins.Represented in a striking cobalt blue, these furnitures offer a modern reinterpretation that invites the viewer to consider how the ancient and the contemporary can coexist in harmonious dialogue. The materiality, specifically the use of solid wood and the matte finish, lends the works a sense of permanence and timelessness. These are not ephemeral or disposable objects, but rather pieces built to withstand the test of time, much like the stone constructions of the original sanctuary.
The series becomes a living testament to the resilience of Greece’s architectural heritage.
Vincent Decat is a Paris-based artist and designer.
Graduated from the Design Academy of Eindhoven, he creates Collectible design pieces that integrate sculptural thinking into everyday use. His work is characterized by forms that suggest life and movement, pieces that seem to breathe or shift. These animal-like qualities transform functional objects into personal and engaging pieces. By creating pieces that feel almost alive, he encourages a relationship of care more than consumption.They become companions that people want to preserve and cherish over time.
