The Dragon Lamp is an entirely handmade lighting sculpture that takes inspiration from myths. With itas bold, sculptural form, it looks like a creature from another world, frozen in time. Crafted from copper and plaster, it combines texture and form to create a striking presence.
Part of the Modern Creature series, the Dragon Lamp is one of two lamps that embody creature-like qualities which seem to move and change over time. By giving them a sense of life, they become small companions, like pets that people cherish and keep over time.
Vincent Decat is a Paris-based artist and designer.
Graduated from the Design Academy of Eindhoven, he creates Collectible design pieces that integrate sculptural thinking into everyday use. His work is characterized by forms that suggest life and movement, pieces that seem to breathe or shift. These animal-like qualities transform functional objects into personal and engaging pieces. By creating pieces that feel almost alive, he encourages a relationship of care more than consumption.They become companions that people want to preserve and cherish over time.
